Why I Never Put My Best Work on Simily

Simily has low-quality standards.

When I spoke with Simily’s followers in a Zoom meeting when they first started, Shannon asked me how much effort I put into writing my articles. I explained that I could easily spend a month writing an article because of the research I put into it and compiling references to show credibility.

The articles that I publish on Simily are entirely different, however. I can usually write those articles in a few minutes or an hour. They don’t require any research.

I publish those on the niche sites of the HubPages Network, hosted by The Arena Group. Some of the articles I publish there reach 2,000 to 3,000 words. Longer articles have more ads, and revenue comes from the advertising.

Length is only part of the puzzle. Quality is the most crucial. Reader retention affects ranking, and those articles with high ranking will be shown more often in the search results, attracting even more readers.

So why would any professional writer publish on a site that limits payment to individual views and not based on length of retention?

I haven’t spent any time with Simily for many months now since I gave up on it. I covered all those details in previous articles on the experience.

But while checking in, I noticed a stagnation with Simily. I wonder if others are reacting as I am and jumping ship.

I decided a long time ago not to spend more time there. So I just check in once in a while to see if anything has changed. And it has gotten worse.

It’s not just me, evidently. I’m finding more and more articles expressing disgust with the site by other authors.
