My First Polyamorous Date Since Opening Up

Dinner, drinks, and passion with a man who’s not my husband

This past week, I went on my very first date since my husband and I opened up our relationship.

I had all sorts of nervous feelings about a romantic outing with a man who is not my husband, mostly stemming from my own insecurities about my awkwardness and body issues.

But the most prominent of these feelings was excitement. I was in a great mood and had tons of energy all week. I felt free, like my world had suddenly been opened up to allow all sorts of incredible possibilities and adventure.

Needless to say, I floated through the workweek.

I met this guy (whom I refer to as “M”) in a local polyamory Facebook group. I’ve since met his friend circle and have spent time with him on numerous occasions in a group setting (mostly the karaoke bar and the weekly board game night he hosts at his home).

I’ve spent time with his wife and also his girlfriend on these occasions as well, and I really connected with both of them. M has amazing taste in women. Not to brag on myself, but I instantly felt drawn to their personalities and have enjoyed in-depth conversations with both ladies. I’ve just grown really really fond of these people in the short couple of months since I’ve accidentally happened upon them.

My husband has also met the group, and he shares my positive feelings about them. He was actually sitting on the couch when M came to pick me up for our date. I had checked in on my husband earlier, asking him if he still felt good about the whole thing, and he assured me he did.

So, M showed up at my door. I gave hubby a quick kiss goodbye. And off I went.

Since I already knew that M and I got along well, I was prepared to have a nice time. But I had no clue just how amazing the night would be. I had kept my expectations in check, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover the evening exceeded anything I had imagined.
