An Ode to Financial Freedom

Financial freedom isn’t an objective. It’s a way of life. There are two types of people: those who work for money and those who have there money work for them. We all have choices to make as life throws its obstacles at us individually. How we respond is really what makes us or breaks us. A victim mentality really equates to a lack mentality. You are a result of what you think about. A manifestation of abundance is only what you tell yourself matched with intentional action.

If financial freedom is what we are striving for then I’m sorry to tell you this but it will never be achieved. Freedom to me equates to leaving bondage. In this scenario a mental bondage. What are you manifesting if all you want is financial freedom? Everyone has the ability to freely think and come to a conclusion. I ask you to only think about the conclusion you are reaching with the thought of achieving the freedom you want. In all honesty, financial literacy is really the goal we are all striving for. How can we learn to make our family tree grow starting with a skill and a paycheck.

Metaphorically speaking, your paycheck is your child. But how do you nurture and fend for it to grow enough outside of its initial birth? That’s the riddle I think we are missing as a collective. Your labor is really the commodity that keeps on giving. And what do you have to show for it? A car? Maybe those shoes you’ve been eying for a while. How about the festival you’ve been dying to go to for months. Is that what you have to show for all your hard work? Something that depreciated the second you bought it? How can we start to turn our liabilities into an asset? Do we continue to rent property or do we buy the property? Do we continue to buy with credit cards just to pay off an item? Or do we use our credit to leverage more money in the future? What are your priorities? Financial freedom? The illiteracy seems to be a loop.

Now this isn’t a holier than thou blog post. This is a monologue of inquiry. I am inquiring to why is it that the middle to lower classes seem to be chasing a “bag.” While the upper class citizens seem to have it figured out. And it equates to financial literacy. While some of them may just pay someone to figure this stuff out for them, I’d say the good portion of the people we all pay attention to like Robert Kiyosaki, Gary Vee, or Mark Cuban have figured it out themselves. We have to take account for our own actions. By holding ourselves accountable, we can achieve this type of lifestyle. But it starts with a will to learn and applicable wisdom.
