The History of The Clitoris

The clitoris is often ignored. The clitoris has no well-known nicknames, save for the shortened “clit”. No one can give measurements for the clitoris, thinking that it’s too small to bother. When the clitoris gets attention during sex, too often it is only mere “foreplay”. The clitoral orgasm is not thought of as a main event in itself. Once can say “suck my dick” and have no one think twice; “suck my clit” and people’s jaws drop in shock.

Even though it is only a few inches, there is no doubt that the clitoris is a big organ. Most people with a vulva can only orgasm if their clitoris is being stimulated in some way. The most common way to orgasm is through external stimulation, not internal. Yet, we’re told the very best form of sex is intercourse. Intercourse should be deep, not shallow enough to touch the G-Spot. For many, this isn’t as pleasant as direct clitoral stimulation.

Why is the stimulation of the clitoris “foreplay”? Why can’t a partner touching the glans be sex? Why is penetration required? Granted, intercourse is a wonderful, even spiritual experience for lots of people. But it doesn’t get most people off.

This is a call to revolution. Touching, kissing, and licking the clitoris is sex, so long as everyone involved is consenting and having fun. Where other sexual organs have other functions, the clitoris is an organ made for touch, and that should give its owner a sense of independence and power. Have fun and own up to your pleasure: the clitoris is a powerful organ that’ll be there for you.
